4.5.21 Implantable pain therapy

Implantable Pain Therapy (IPT) is the use of an implantable device to address persistent pain. It may be considered when a range of alternatives to manage persistent pain have been fully explored.

The Interventional Pain Therapy Billing Position Statement outlines the appropriate billing guidelines for all interventional pain therapies including implantable pain therapy (IPT) in line with the Medical Benefit Scheme (MBS Medicare Benefits Schedule) as well as WorkSafe’s policies and fee schedules.
